Extras on the Card: Inside the Oven, Baseboards and Linens in the Cleaning Team App

Extras are where a cleaning company either makes its margin or quietly gives it away. A customer pays $35 for the inside of the oven, and the team never sees the request, so the oven goes untouched and the customer calls. Or the team cleans the inside of every cabinet out of habit on a home that only paid for a standard clean, and an hour vanishes. Both problems have the same fix: put the extras on the card.

The Plus Lines

The size line on the card, explained in Cleaning Type, Beds, Baths, Square Feet and Pets: Reading the Job Card in the Maid Service App, tells the team what kind of home it is. Right below it, extras show as plus lines:

+ Change Linens
+ Inside Fridge
+ Baseboards

If it has a plus, it was sold and it gets done. If it is not on the card, it is not part of today's job. That one rule saves arguments on both sides.

The Extras MaidBossPro Tracks

The extras available on a job are:

How you price each one is up to you. Example prices like $35 for inside the oven or $25 for inside the fridge are common starting points for small companies, but your own service list sets the number.

How Extras Reach the Card

Extras usually start on the estimate. When the office builds a quote, add-ons like inside oven, inside fridge or baseboards are line items from your service list. When the customer approves the estimate online, it becomes the scheduled job, and the extras carry onto the job card the team sees.

For recurring homes, the extras that happen every visit, like Change Linens, come forward when the next job is booked, because a new job at a home you have cleaned before fills in from that home's last job. A one-time request, like the inside of the fridge before a holiday, is added to that visit by the office.

Extras and the Invoice

Because the extras are on the job, they are also on the invoice. When the team taps Complete, the invoice is created from the job's line items, so the customer sees the clean and each extra listed. The $155 every-two-weeks clean and the $35 oven show as two lines, with sales tax if you charge it. Nobody in the office has to remember on Friday that the Smiths wanted the oven done.

That flow is covered in Invoices Sent From the Job: How Completing a Cleaning Bills the Customer.

When the Customer Asks for More at the Door

It happens on almost every route: the customer is home and asks, “Could you do the inside of the microwave and the fridge today too?” The team wants to say yes. The office wants to get paid for it.

A clean process for the team:

  1. Say you are happy to check, and that the office will confirm the price.
  2. Write it in the job notes: “Customer asked for inside fridge today, said yes if time allows.”
  3. Text or call the office so they can add the extra to the job before Complete.

The office adds the line item from your service list, so the invoice matches the work and the price is the price you set, not one guessed in a kitchen. If the request should become permanent, the office adds it to the home so it shows on every future visit.

Using Extras as the Team's Checklist

Before tapping Complete, a good team lead glances back at the plus lines: linens changed, fridge done, baseboards done. It takes five seconds and catches the one extra that slipped while the team was focused on a bathroom. Take an after photo of each paid extra, especially the oven and fridge, so there is proof if the customer ever asks.
