Building Recurring Cleaning Routes by Neighborhood and Day

The hours a team spends driving are hours nobody pays for. In a one-time cleaning business, there is not much you can do about that. Jobs land wherever customers live. In a recurring business, you get to shape the map. Every standing client you place on the right day in the right neighborhood saves drive time every single visit, for as long as they stay.

Why Recurring Work Can Be Routed Well

Moving one visit without breaking a client's slot, as covered in Moving or Skipping One Visit vs. Changing the Whole Recurring Series, gets much easier when every team's day is tight. A team with four homes on the same few streets finishes early and has room for a moved visit or a one-off deep clean from the Waiting List. A team zigzagging across town does not.

Recurring clients keep a fixed slot: the same day, the same time and the same team. An every-two-weeks client you place on the Tuesday route in the north end will be on that route twenty-six times a year. That makes the decision at signup worth a minute of thought.

Give Each Area a Day

The simplest structure is to give each part of your service area one or two regular days:

With several teams, each team can own an area or share a day across two areas. The point is that a new client in the north end goes on Tuesday, and so does the next one, and the one after that. Over time, Tuesday in the north end becomes a dense, efficient day.

Placing New Clients on the Right Day

When a new recurring client signs up, look at who you already serve near their address. The Recurring Cleanings list shows every existing slot by day, time and team, such as “Every 2 weeks · Tuesdays · 9:00 AM · Team 1,” so you can see which team is already in that area and on which day.

When you click Add Recurring Cleaning, the first cleaning date sets the weekday for the whole series. Pick a first date that puts the new client on the same day as their neighbors. For every-two-weeks clients, start them this week or next so they land on the same A or B week as the homes nearby. A first-time deep clean is a good chance to set this up. Book the deep clean on the area's day, then start the series from there, as covered in From First-Time Deep Clean to Recurring Client: Turning One Visit Into a Standing Schedule.

Teams Set Up Like Vehicles

In MaidBossPro, each team is set up like a vehicle: “Team 1,” “Team 2” and so on. The Scheduled List, which works as your dispatch board, shows jobs by day and can be filtered by team. Saved views let you jump straight to the view you use most, such as “Team 2, this week.”

Once a day's homes are on a team, put them in order:

The order you set is the order the team sees on their phone, with a navigation button on every card. If your teams like paper, print route sheets as well.

Time Windows and Fixed Days

Recurring clients often have constraints: “Fridays only,” “not before 10,” “must be gone by 3 when the kids get home.” Set the time on the series to match, and put the window in the client notes so the office sees it. When a constrained client sits in the middle of a cluster, set the route order by hand so the team reaches them inside their window.

Do not let one picky client wreck an area's day, though. If a Friday-only client lives on the Tuesday side of town, it is fair to tell them which days you serve their area, or to price the special day accordingly.

Rebalancing Over Time

Routes drift. Clients cancel, new ones start, frequencies change. Every few months, look at each team's days on the board:

Moving a recurring home to a different day or team is easy. On the Recurring Cleanings list, use Change on the series, and every upcoming visit moves to the new day, time or team. Finished visits stay as they were. Just tell the client first.

Team GPS on the Office Map

On the day, team GPS shows on the office map. If a client calls asking when the team will arrive, you can see where the team is. The customer app shows the client their place on the route too: “You're stop 4 of 6.” Tight routes make those answers predictable.
